The Treaty Authority is delighted to announce the appointment of Ken Markwell as CEO. Ken’s is a Mununjhali man from the Yugambeh language region in southeast Queensland.  

He has an outstanding reputation for leading major First Nations reforms across the country in community, government and business sectors.

Prior to joining the Treaty Authority Ken was the Director of Markwell and Associates – a successful Aboriginal professional services consulting business specialising in connecting people through Aboriginal cultural values and wisdom. He previously led Australian Unity’s Indigenous Services team which was one of the largest employers of First Nations people in the aged and disability sector and was instrumental in establishing the Indigenous Rangers Program while at the Commonwealth Government.

The Treaty Authority is thrilled to welcome Ken on board to progress our vision for a fair Treaty process that delivers justice, prosperity and mutual respect for all Victorians.

The Treaty Authority acknowledges First Peoples as sovereign peoples throughout the lands and waters now known as Victoria and across Australia. We pay deep respect to all Traditional Owners, their lands, waters and skies, their Elders and ancestors, languages, family and clan groups, and their Lore, Law, customs, traditions and spiritual connections.
